Engine oil AMSOIL or OEM Subaru

OEM Subaru Engine oil

Check all your fluids ASAP. If any are low, top off as per the manual and monitor closely before you leave to make sure it's not leaking or consuming anything. Definitely bring extra oil, 1 or 2 quarts would be pleanty, and some paper towels and rubber gloves help too.

Pros: bring extra oil
Cons: engine drinks oil
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 3500 km

OEM Subaru Engine oil

Should be fine, but CHECK THE OIL FREQUENTLY. This series of engines is notorious for oil consumption problems, which may not appear at all when doing short trips, but suddenly it's drinking 1qt or more per 1000 miles on the highway.

Pros: check oil frequently
Cons: oil consumption problems
Mileage: 1000 km

used Amsoil 5w20 last oil change and just did an oil change at ford with motorcraft due to my poor planning… typewriter tick is back with this oil. Didn’t have that at all with Amsoil.

Pros: no typewriter tick
Cons: typewriter tick is back

As an avid amsoil user I am bought into the brand. Every product I have has made my equipment run better. I run a small farm and have amsoil in every fluid in all of my vehicles. If you are in the preferred deal it really isn't that much more expensive than regular oil.

My L5P doesn't tick with amsoil. My 5.3 you can't hear the lifters with amsoil. I have a 5.3 that has 300k on it and never had a motor problem with it and it has been pure amsoil since 35k miles.

Pros: equipment run better
Cons: expensive than regular oil
Mileage: 300000 km

AMSOIL Engine oil

After not being very impressed with Amsoil 5W-30 after a 5,000 mile oil analysis, I'm going to see how this stuff looks after 5K.

Cons: not very impressed
Mileage: 5000 km
