Control arm Tesla or OEM Subaru

OEM Subaru Control arm

I got a similar quote with almost identical wear showing for my 2014 crosstrek ($1700), and everyone said that it was insane high. I searched facebook for a Subaru specific group in my local area, and searched it for recommended Subaru mechanics. Found a highly recommended mechanic who replaced both control arms plus the needed alignment for about $540.

Pros: cheaper repair cost
Cons: insane high quote
Vehicle: Subaru

For example, Subaru control arms tend to be a wear out part that doesn't last that long The dealer will charge you $1,500 to do both sides and sure that's using OEM parts which aren't even that green in this case I myself was able to do that exact repair for $250 and a few hours of my time

Pros: cheaper than dealer
Cons: frustrating sometimes
Vehicle: Subaru

They said they noticed wear. car drove perfectly and i inspect the suspension regularly all looked good, but who am i to argue with new suspension parts. also got an alignment too of course.

Pros: new suspension parts, free replacement
Cons: premature wear noticed

Tesla Control arm

Mine started squeaking at about 40k miles. I didn't feel like replacing them yet and they were still solid so I did the grease gun with needle fitting "fix". Squeak went completely away after a day and has been gone for the last 10k+ miles.

Pros: squeak went completely away
Cons: started squeaking at 40k
Mileage: 40000 km

Pros: few other repair costs
Cons: had to pay $400
Mileage: 152887 km

Tesla Control arm

I have a Model3 RWD, the heavy batteries cause the arms to crack, just by weight alone with road conditions in southern Cali. Both of my arms on both sides were denied by one service center. However, a month later, I took it to a different service center and they processed all of it under warranty.

Cons: arms crack, design flaw

2014 Model S P85D control arm broke while driving home. Tesla repair center won't work on it and claim that it was in an accident and to go through insurance. The vehicle has not been in an accident since I've owned it.

Cons: control arm broke, repair center refusal
