Brake pads Textar or OEM BMW

Textar Brake pads

I got genuine discs from ML performance for much much less than dealer prices, coupled with textar pads made to the same spec as M4 pads (M4 pads are also a drop in upgrade, I believe textar is OE for M4 pads), noticed minimal difference in performance though.

Pros: much cheaper, same spec
Cons: minimal performance difference

I just shopped around for the brake pads for my 2 series, got the front ones done for £150. It was a trusted garage and they inspected the large m sport discs and said there was life for another set of pads on them after this new set. I’m also quite a light braker, so discs and pads tend to last me a long time.

Pros: affordable price, long-lasting

OEM BMW Brake pads

On my previous EV, a BMW i3, the brake pads were the same as the Mini Cooper (except for the 2014, which used a shaved-down pad for some reason).

Textar Brake pads

I did change my F30 with Textar and it was plug n play. No need to go big if you don’t go on track days often imo.

Pros: easy installation, plug and play

I beat the hell out of some OE Textars in 110+ heat at Buttonwillow and they held up admirably. You don’t need anything more for the street.

OEM BMW Brake pads

OEM BMW Performance. Can’t recommend the brake pads though, dusty as hell. I had Hawk HPS5.0 pads before, those performed better than the OE pads with the added bonus of being very low dust.

Pros: low dust, better performance

The steering was the worst of all the cars I tried. Engine was fabulous but transmission not very responsive. Handling and suspension usability range were solid but the killer for this car was the really soft, weak brakes.

Pros: fabulous engine
Cons: soft, weak brakes
