Brake pads R1 Concepts or OEM Chevrolet

R1 Concepts Brake pads

I might get scolded by the purest, but I went with these R1 Concepts on my 2019 X5.\n\nI too was shocked when the dealer quoted over 2k for brakes, so I started looking at options. I\u2019ve had them for about two years, they have performed excellent and they look amazing.

Pros: performed excellent, look amazing

brake pads when they get worn (should be a lot less frequent than an ICE car, some bolt owners go 100-150k+ without wearing through their first Original set!)

Pros: less frequent replacement

Surprisingly, R1 Concepts Track Pads. They have been really great on the track (3800lb/310hp? car).

I left them on my daily since I am too lazy to change out the pads and they have been on for about 6 months and a few track days. They are great for the street and track but dusty as hell. They only make noise when it’s cold outside other wise they are fine.

Pros: great for street and track
Cons: dusty as hell, noise when cold

I would suggest going to [www.buybrakes.com](http://www.buybrakes.com) and get the R1 Concepts pads for the front and rear. The ones Rockauto has growl a little bit.

Pros: good quality
Cons: growl a little bit

OEM Chevrolet Brake pads

Not a classic. I had an ‘84. First brand new car. It was a surprisingly good and cheap car for when I went to uni. Had to replace the brakes often. Thought it was the cheap car. In retrospect it was likely my driving habits.

Pros: good and cheap car
Cons: replace brakes often
Vehicle: Chevrolet Chevette

A couple of months after purchase the breaks starting squeeking and a 1 1/2 years later they haven’t stopped. I have had the front ones replaced but I keep getting told it is due to no copper in the break pads anymore - I call BS to that. I also had to get a faulty sensor replaced for the front end because it was causing my car to abruptly stop when I attempted to pull off from a parked position. It was thinking something was in front of me so the front end collision thing was kicking in. I’ve also had to get the fuel injectors replaced because they went bad while in a road trip this summer. Luckily we were almost back home instead 800 miles away still. Currently waiting for rear breaks to come in so those can be replaced to hopefully stop this squeak.

Cons: squeaking brakes, faulty front sensor, bad fuel injectors
Vehicle: Chevrolet Traverse
