Hawk HPS 5.0 pads
Can’t say anything bad about the Hawk brake pads. I have HPD 5.0’s and they stop great and dust very little.
I aswell have an evo 9 with the same tires and similar weight. I run hawk dtc 70s in the front and dtc 60s in the rear. If you do not mind swapping pads before the events I love these pads. They will make a lot of noise driving around town tho. I get about 8 to 10 days out of a set of front pads and about 2 to 3 seasons out of a set of rears.
I have hawk dtc-60. They are cheaper than most race pads, but not super long lasting. No problems with them on the street. They dust like crazy though and the you don't want to leave the dust on wheels you care about. Make sure you wash the wheels when you get home from track.
I have a Camaro SS 1LE (~3800 lbs w/me) and I basically run Hawk 60's on the street and track ( I don't drive on the street much). I also used Carbotech XP12's before. I don't get any brake fade with either one.
I emailed HAWK over two weeks ago. They thanked my for my contact and query, but haven't responded with a suggested product. I've been running their pads on my Mk6R and have been very pleased with the lack of brake dust and the bite of the braking.
HAWK Pads are top notch
I used these Hawk brake pads for a HPDE track day so they did get very hot. They still have 10mm of thickness left, but this particular pad has these very pronounced cracks. All other pads have very minor cracks (barely visible), but this one was the worst.
I swapped from the ake’s to hawk on the last pad change. Hawks definitely don’t have the same stopping performance as the stock ones. I hate the dust from stock, but they work so much better Wouldn’t say the hawks were unacceptable by any means. Not worth the trouble to pull them out, but won’t be using them again
My wheel looked the same after an autocross day with my 2017 Mustang GT. I was daily driving these pads a couple years ago, and they nearly destroyed my wheel finish when I left the dust on too long (not to mention how incredibly noisy they were). It took multiple washes with iron remover and the wheels off the car to properly clean it all off.
