Brake pads Hawk Performance or OEM Volkswagen

Hawk Performance Brake pads

If you want upgraded pads. Try HAWK 5.0 pads. You can't go wrong with a better initial bit, better response and shorter stopping distance.

Pros: better initial bit, better response
Cons: may make noise

I run Hawk HPS which have reduced dust as compared to the factory OE Brembo pads. They are quiet enough too.

Pros: reduced dust, quiet

HAWK HPS 5.0 on mine currently - no complaints. Keeps the Linear pedal feel (doesnt bite hard in the beginning then dies out if that makes sense) and stops much better than the OEMs. It does dust a bit but nothing crazy.

Pros: linear pedal feel, better stopping
Cons: some brake dust

Took my 2019 Golf R to the track with stock pads and rotors. The brakes started smelling really bad after 20 minutes of track time, and squealing a bit. Didn’t lose braking power significantly, but this is what they look like afterwards.

Cons: smelling bad, squealing
