I went with Hella/Pagid stock rotors. EBC red stuff pads. All the difference. That's all it took. And there is noticeably less dust on the alloys.
I have Red Stuff pads and I feel that they have more initial bite than the stock pads, and once you're deeper in the pedal they feel pretty much the same as the stock pads. On the street I feel they are very comparable to stock and dust much less. More importantly, the dust is gray and doesn't turn rusty colored so it doesn't look as bad between washes. Red Stuff wouldn't handle track events like OEM though. Also no issues with brake noise.
Went on a track day and the stock brakes would smoke like crazy after a couple of laps. Just switched to ebc yellow pads. I still have less than 500 miles on them but so far so good. Tried them in auto x and felt good, stopping force is a bit better. As far as street driving i hear a very slight squeal from the brakes under light braking. Dont think i'd even notice with windows up, its very slight. Update: ebc yellow pads stop a good bit better than stock brakes on the track. Alot better at handling the heat.
2000% go with the HH EBC Brake pads. Immediate feel, much better progressive brakes. You won't believe the difference in feel and confidence.
I've been using EBC red ceramic pads on all my GP's. Never once had fitment issues and they're low dust and no squeaks. Bought some oe spec stoptech ones once and replaced them a few months later because they were too dusty.
I did ebc red stuff and some slotted and drilled rotors. Honestly I have to recommend it I love the hard bite if I hit them hard.
Massive step up from the OEMs assuming proper break-in. Since the car is just a daily, I can testify for the EBC Red pads with stock rotors. Been a year now and I feel like you truly need nothing else than this combo for the streets. Noise is minimal after break in period
I track mine with ebc yellow and blanks. I just bought another set from them. They sell kits. A few hundred total front and rear. Use plenty of brake lube on the backing plates or the squealing will be insane! If just street use, red is plenty good.
Im using yellowstuff on an rs5 b9 , installed it couple of weeks ago first impression is it has a better bite than OEM, but i think yellows won’t hold the car for more than 1hr of heavy street driving which is bad. But i have to test it further to verify this.
I had EBC red and green stuff on another car, would never buy again.
