Brake pads EBC or Textar

EBC Brake pads

The steel lines are great addition. The EBC pads add significant bite, but I did warp my stock rotor with a full weekend at Road Atlanta. Put a Galfer rotor on there.

Pros: significant bite
Cons: warped rotor

EBC Brake pads

I’m now 500 miles into the EBC Redstuff brake pads I recently installed. It was kind of dicey at first, like “did I make a bad move?” dicey. Very rough stopping in the first 50 miles, then just mildly rough for another 150 or so. The good news is that stopping is buttery smooth now that the pads are fully bedded in. Just smooth as silk.

Pros: smooth stopping, buttery smooth
Cons: rough stopping initially
Mileage: 500 km

I went with ebc green as red was overkill for red is less dust and heavier cars from my understanding. The greens do me just fine as i dont beat my vb from point a to point b all the time.

Pros: fine for daily driving

Yellow stuff. If you don't track they're the better value. Less dust on your wheels, they'll perform in the cold better

Pros: better value, less dust

I had oem pads then changed to ebc yellow stuff pads, huge a world of difference and I can’t recommend it enough but avoid the grooved disks from ebc as you get mad vibration sounds under heavy braking

Pros: huge a world of difference
Cons: vibration sounds under braking

The initial bite is really, really good on the street, and the pads feel very good. I never had issues with overheating.

The life of the front pads, however, wasn't very impressive to me. I got about 8 months of daily driving (75% highway miles), 20-30 canyon runs (roughly 35 minutes each) + 2 trackdays (my 2nd and 3rd ever) out of them. I had to cut my 3rd trackday short because the wear sensor came on, and then within 10 minutes, the front pads were metal-metal with the rotor, and I went off into the dirt.

Pros: good bite, good feel
Cons: short life, metal-metal

EBC Brake pads

I personally had a terrible time with EBC brakes especially the yellow stuff. A month of daily driving and one track day had the pads so low they actually slipped out of the calipers while I was driving, customer support swore up and down I installed them wrong and it’s my fault. I put project mu hybrid pads on next and I’ve been out on 6 different tracks days and a year of driving and there is still 5mm of pad life left.

Pros: long pad life
Cons: pads slipped out, poor customer support
