Brake pads Carbotech or R1 Concepts

R1 Concepts Brake pads

I did use r1concepts house brand ceramic brake pads in my most recent brake change and I like them overall. I do not track my vehicle but maybe some spirited driving here and there

Pros: overall good, low dust

R1 Concepts Brake pads

They were super friendly and helped me get the best brakes for my Suburban. They literally made the brakes specifically for me and I picked them up a few days later. Definitely a quality product, too.

Pros: quality product, friendly service

Carbotech Brake pads

If your just daily driving then OEM is fine, if you're looking for a slight upgrade then I recommend Carbotech 1521 Bobcat pads. I have the Carbotechs and they are nice.

Pros: nice upgrade, slight improvement

I just changed my pads and rotors at all four corners asI was always very unhappy with the stock pads and rotors; mostly because of noise in the cold and the amount of brake dust the pads made. Upon inspection of my rotors, with barely 30k miles on them, there was a startling amount of material removed and channeling from the pads. I would totally recommend you replace the rotors at the same time. I too went with the ECS slotted and drilled rotors with Carbotech 1521 pads and love the setup. Very quiet, very little dust and good performance.

Pros: very quiet, very little dust
Cons: stock pads noisy, stock rotors channeled
Mileage: 30000 km

New rotors and pads without breaking in at all, just normal driving as soon as changed. Pads lasted 30.000km ish, while rotors wrapped at about 40.000km ish (pads replaced at 30k with same R1 concepts). Brake feel and performance was OK, but much worse than when broken in. Light squeal at about 15.000km and onwards. New rotors and pads following break in procedure, 10 stops from 90km/h (55mph aprox), never coming to a complete stop, then driving 30 minutes never coming to a complete stop, rolling to a stop on neutral and waiting another 30 minutes. Pads lasted about 40.000km ish, rotors lasted 80.000km ish, pads replaced at 40.000km with same R1 concepts ceramic.

Pros: longer life with break in
Cons: squealing, worse performance
Vehicle: Honda Civic
Mileage: 40000 km
