Brake pads Brembo or Project Mu
They’re fantastic. Got a set when I swapped in brembos last summer. Amazing braking power and minimal fade.
4 years ago I had my daughter, before taking my 2008 Mazda 6 back to college with her, install new Brembo "OE"/standard type pad sets front and rear and new Brembo rotors in the front. The front pads and rotors were so thick that the caliper piston cups had to be ENTIRELY retracted into the pistons to fit over them. After completion of the job and the performance of the pad/rotor break-in procedure, the already capable car was turned into a braking performance monster. It was like if you depressed the brake pedal a millimeter the car would start to decelerate markedly! And rapid stops were unbelievable quick and drama free. So I absolutely recommend Brembo products (have installed Brembo pads on 2 SUVs as well) and have always been impressed with the results!!
The fronts are basic Brembo, so as long as the mech. is competent that shouldn’t be an issue.
I put in cheap ceramic genuine Brembo pads in my Kia, stops on a dime.
The street type are great all rounders, reasonable bite and minimal drop off. Pretty low dust and noise, and wear was terrific. The set I had lasted longer than the oem pads I had before them. The performance of the track orientated pads is absolutely insane. The initial bite is like no other pad I've ever had. It drops off a tad but still great stopping power. However dust and noise are pretty terrible.
A popular way to get bigger brakes on your Honda civic is taking the brembos from an Acura TL.
I run the Project Mu HC+ and DBA4000 rotors on a FK8 CTR that is also daily driven. over all very happy works ok when cold but 1 or 2 stops and its up to temp and has great bite. and really only minor pad sequel when stone cold.
The OEM brembo pads and rotors on my Subaru would leave a lot of buildup for sure. A couple good hard brakes and it was clear.
All 135i have brembo supplied oem brakes. They sure do look great and have 6 pistons up front. But, the functionality of said brakes are not more special than what BMW offers for the 335i and Z4 of the same generation.
Those Brembo pads that cost $500 a set are total trash, too. They are low friction and still real dusty. I threw mine in the trash at like 2000 miles.
