Never scrimp on brake pads. However, personally I never buy OEM pads. Manufacturers just brand a brake manufacturers brakes and charge a premium for putting their logo on it. Get the part number and do your research to identify what brand the OEM part is. You should save money for the same brake pad. Otherwise, you could also save money by buying aftermarket pads by quality brands. Brembo, EBC, black diamond. You may find they are available, cheaper and better quality. Worth a look.
Had my Fortuner front pads replaced, Brembo Prime Ceramic Pads: 3500 lang kasama na install sa Jiga.
You can save on the brake pad prices, either buy the original parts from a shop in sharjah for much less or install Brembo Brake pads which also cost much less and are also very good quality.
I swapped front pads with a 13mm socket, hammer and drift pin. In about 30 mins in my driveway. $210, parts delivered from Amazon. Took the opportunity to scrub out calibers free from all the caked on brake dust. Cleaned the inside of the wheels while I was there. Dealership wanted $787 just for the front pads and quoted more than $1000 installed. Easiest job ever and saved $500-$700.
If you DIY and have the tools I did front and rear brakes on my 340i with brembos for $725ish
I have 45k miles on my 2016 STI and just replaced all 4 rotors and pads with another set of Brembos. I don’t drive the car particularly hard and probably could have waited a bit longer but they are done now so I shouldn’t have to worry about them. Cost me about 1k all-in, parts and labor.
I just put some Brembro low met pads on out SQ5. They are more progressive bite, but I like them better than the Hawk HPS 5.0 on my S4. When you get on them they stop very well. Not sure on dust yet.
The amount of dust from Brembo pads never fails to drive me absolutely insane. Phenomenal brakes, but my god is cleaning the wheels constantly brutal.
I have the same problem with brembo pads but only when the brakes are cold. The car is breaking good and the noise only last a few minutes. So its ok for me.
So akebono also makes original mazda brake pads. You see the stamp on the box and brake pads it self. Brembo sucks for normal cars. Had brembo and with in a year less than 15k miles, they need to be replaced.
