Brake pads Akebono or POWER STOP

Akebono Brake pads

I prefer non-OEM pads (Akebono) so I go with my Indy for that, though the value service pricing is super competitive and honestly impossible for Indys to really match? $99 oil change is so low margin

Pros: value service pricing
Cons: non-OEM pads

I just put them on my 2013 silverado my old rotors were vibrating hard at high speed braking and the powerstop drilled/slotted rotors and pads are completely smooth when braking at higher speed

Pros: smooth braking, no vibration
Cons: vibrating rotors

I recently changed out my OEM pads to Powerstop Z26 for the front and rear. Big difference over stock. Went through the bedding process and they're really solid.

Pros: big difference, really solid

They are way better than the duralast pads I had. They have a better pedal feel and don’t squeak. They also stop the truck faster.

Pros: better pedal feel, quiet
Cons: squeaky

I had Akebono ceramics on my first GX, have OEM on my current ride. OEMs may offer a slightly better pedal feel but are much dustier (Akebono didn't dust at all). No real difference in stopping power, so overall it's probably a wash.

Pros: better pedal feel
Cons: much dustier

I just put on Akebono ceramics and Zimmerman coated rotors and I hated them for the first few hundred miles. They took a very long time to break in, and this was after a) paying attention to the instructions that say no break-in is needed and b) ignoring that advice when the stopping distances were so bad initially that I bedded them in... and yet the pedal effort was so high that I could barely engage the ABS in the dry. So I'd recommend staying away from that combination.

Cons: long break in, high pedal effort
Vehicle: MINI
