Rating 4.5

I love the Carbotech 1521 pads on my E60 M5. Excellent bite and modulation, never gotten fade when bombing around mountain roads, and significantly less dust than the stock Textar pads. Not zero dust, but I'd say 80% - 90% less.

Pros: excellent bite, less dust
Cons: some dust
Vehicle: BMW
Part number: 1521

Akebono Brake pads

The brake pads you use make a huge difference. I had a Mustang before I bought my 340i that was insanely dusty, so I switched to ceramic pads and it’s made a massive difference. I’ve used them ever since. My car is mostly a garage queen who sees a back road on rare days when the sun is just right, so they’re perfect for me.

Pros: massive difference, low dust
Vehicle: BMW

Akebono Brake pads

Akebono have always served me well. Felt slightly better than OEM IMO. I’ve also tried EBC Greenstuff’s…brake feel was just ok and they wore very quickly (less than 20k miles).

Pros: better than OEM, good feel
Cons: EBC wore quickly
Mileage: 20000 km
Part number: ACT976, ACT606

Akebono Brake pads

I replaced the brembo pads with akebono pads and it squeaked very loud and often for about 1000 miles and then it went down to squeaking much less than the stocks. I don’t really notice it often anymore.

Pros: less squeaking after 1000 miles
Cons: loud squeaking initially
Mileage: 1000 km
