Brake discs Zimmermann or OEM BMW

OEM BMW Brake discs

One of those checks will be a minimum thickness on discs and pads. Given you've only done just over 1000 miles in the vehicle since purchase, it would seem to me that the minimum thickness on the discs when the vehicle was sold to you was at or below that required as part of the pre-sale check.

Pros: minimum thickness on discs
Cons: discs below required thickness
Vehicle: BMW X5
Mileage: 1609 km

I just put on Zimmerman rotors and hawk 5.0 pads all around and it’s been great. Stops quick, doesn’t make much noise, and not too expensive

Pros: stops quick, not expensive
Cons: doesn’t make much noise

Zimmermann Brake discs

Got quoted 3k CAD for pads/rotors, bought Zimmerman drilled and brembo ceramics for 1500 and did them myself. Took 4 hrs taking my time, very simple job if you have the means to do it yourself

Pros: simple job

Zimmermann Brake discs

Personally, I like to use ceramic brake pads wherever possible from a quality manufacturer. They produce less brake dust, seem to last longer, and are very quiet. I put ceramics on all my cars. I also like Zimmerman rotors. They're actually more expensive than the OE/OEM rotors, but I like the quality and think they're worth the price.

Pros: less brake dust, last longer
Cons: more expensive

I’m seeing some very small cracks on the cross-drilled holes. At what point does this become concerning? These are the front rotors on a new G82 M4 comp after about 6 track days using Pagid R29 Yellow pads which I’ve used before with no issues. My preference is to keep the stock rotors rather than switching to non cross drilled rotors

Pros: no issues with previous pads
Cons: small cracks on rotors

OEM BMW Brake discs

For example on my 4 series if you took it to a dealership to have the front disks and pads done you are looking at over £900.

Cons: dealerships get very expensive
