First of all, you can run the G60 (Girling 54) fronts with rear disk on a 20mm master cylinder with no problem. I am running that setup right now. That being said, yes, the pedal feel would be nicer with a 22mm master, but the 20mm will work also.

Pros: 20mm master works fine
Cons: pedal feel not optimal

Rating 4.0

I had this problem with my 90 GLI. It was the parking brake mechanism on the caliper of the right rear wheel. It had seized, not allowing the caliper to release when I released the parking brake lever. I had to replace the caliper.

Pros: prevent rotor damage
Cons: caliper seized
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Girling Brake caliper

In my car...Not really. Its so light and the G54s provided plenty of stopping with decent pads. I expected more but Meh? Ive been runnin em for nearly 4 years now?

Pros: plenty of stopping
Cons: expected more

Girling Brake caliper

The dual piston calipers seem like a great upgrade, and in theory they are, but the actual difference in stopping power between them and the corrado single piston calipers isnt noticeable. The extra unsprung weight of the dual piston caliper is also a drawback.

Pros: great upgrade in theory
Cons: stopping power not noticeable, extra weight
Vehicle: Volkswagen

OEM Volkswagen Brake caliper

ultimately you will need a new caliper, because the parking brake mechanism ins't rebuildable by itsself. It's a common vw problem, actually, both my parking mech's are seized. just don't use the e-brake. and don't buy a rebuilt caliper - they never last.

Cons: parking mech's are seized
Vehicle: Volkswagen
