I'm going to turn 230k miles on my 2018 model 3 tomorrow. The only time it has been to a service center is when the 12v battery died on a road trip. Other than that, I've put tires on it. I'm at about 21% degradation but everything still runs as it should. I'm hoping to get to 300k miles on the original battery.

Pros: high longevity, good performance
Cons: 21% degradation
Mileage: 370148 km

OPTIMA Battery

Optima seems to be the only brand of cylindrical Pb batteries for automotive use... pretty much every other automotive Pb battery is prismatic.

That's the first I've seen one fail this way.

Cons: fail this way

Yes, my 2021 battery died mid 2024. No warnings, no abnormal behaviour. Luckily it was still under warranty and the towing and repairing were free.

Pros: towing and repairing free
Cons: no abnormal behaviour

Those Optima Red, Yellow and Blue tops used to be the cat's ass 20 years ago, but quality has fallen off big time in recent years

Cons: quality has fallen off
