Red Top, 4 years so far. Survived 3 Portland Oregon winters, a few complete drains, and sites for a week + at a time without use. Way to heavy though.
I ran red top for a little more than five years before it ran out of juice, so I bought another a couple years ago
I bought a optima in 2001 and ran it for 6 years no problems, even though i drained it multiple times. I bought a replacement in 2005, exchanged on warrenty in '06, and i'mlooking for a replacement currently. i know optima was bought out a few years ago i wonder if quality has gone down since then.
Unfortunately, I only ran that battery for 10 months.....car was stolen, so I can't say it was great for many years, but in 10 months time, not one hick-up......even when my Autolamps Online HID kit went haywire and turned itself on and stayed on ALL NIGHT.
I just replaced the red top Optima in my Cherokee after 8 years. Put in a yellow top Optima.
I have a red top optima. I was told that the yellow top is better if your running competition stuff in your car, ie stereos, strobes, neons, and such. 1st red top lasted about 5 yrs. On 2nd red top and have no problems with it.
I bought the Yellow top today . fits the TT perfectly . and also made room for the breaker for the power cable for the Audio setup . the original battery was a little taller and wouldm't clear the battery coverery. so I was worried about mounting the breaker too far from the battery, now its all good.
Optima Yellow top is pretty good. Avoid the Red Top's like the plague.
I compared the dimensions of both batteries (stock vs Optima) and the Optima is shorter, skinnier, but like 1/4 wider. Optima did not fit, or would not fit without modification to the positive terminal. Ordered the OEM from Keffer.
For the price you pay if you aren't using the car daily, it is a waste of money. I've been through 3 of them now, 2 of which I replaced within there crappy 1 year replacement period.
