Battery OEM Toyota or OEM Volkswagen

OEM Volkswagen Battery

Just wanted to update for the sake of others wanting to change their own battery. I went ahead and picked up a new battery from the VW Stealership for $150 (after tax and disposal fee's) It was exactly the same as the one i took out.

Pros: same as original

Yes it does sit inside of the frame rail. When my A2 was a daily driver year ago, I ran the same battery. The battery fit perfect and did not hit the power steering bottle at all.

Pros: battery fit perfect
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I decided to stop by the dealer today and check if they had any. Sure enough they did but wanted $15x.xx for it. I mentioned that I had found a lower price online but didn't want to wait for shipping to my surprise they offered to sell it to me for $126. I was really happy with that so I bought it and installed it this afternoon. So for anyone that may dig up this thread searching in the future, 000 915 105 DE fits and works great in a mk2

Pros: fits and works great
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Part number: 000 915 105 DE

A battery from VW was actually cheaper and had a better warranty than what Advance was trying to sell me. So I just bought the battery from the dealer, installed myself, then returned the old one for the core refund.

Pros: cheaper, better warranty

Since replacing my battery on 12/18 this code has not returned. The only symptom I've noticed is it appears my battery is going. When I start it in the morning it struggles and then is ok the rest of the day. However just leaving the radio on, without the car being on, for 20 mins or so will drain the battery and the car will barely turn over.

Pros: resolved code issue
Cons: battery drained quickly
Mileage: 78960 km

Been meaning to post an update on this little saga... Eventually decided to get the LH battery replaced about a month ago and has completely cured the electrical problems. The car feels like new again and I love it again.

Pros: cured electrical problems

Anyway, I bought a new battery and everything was fine for several months. Yesterday my car did not start again. I put a charger on the battery and it started this morning. However, this afternoon it would not start again. I charged it again and went and had the charging system and battery checked out (all good).

Pros: new battery, worked initially
Cons: short lifespan, car won't start
Mileage: 82680 km

Currently I actually own a 2005 V8 and it has been just short of a nightmare to maintain. First was the battery($400) then the headlights($200) then the Thermostat($900), then the horn($80) then timing belt, water pump, stripped drain plug, etc all within a year.

Cons: nightmare to maintain
Vehicle: Volkswagen Touareg
Mileage: 80000 km
