I have a ‘24 RAV4 Prime and a ‘13 Prius V. I can say that my battery and fuel efficiency on both vehicles drops between 30 and 40% as soon as the cold weather hits. Range on the RAV4 Prime goes from 80km/charge to about 55-60km in cold weather, plus the gas runs more often so I don’t go as far on a tank (~1300km winter vs our record 2100km spring/summer).

Pros: love the hybrid
Cons: battery efficiency drops
Vehicle: Toyota

OEM Volkswagen Battery

Pros: gute Batterielebensdauer, geringe Degradation
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 50000 km

Assuming that it's a hybrid and not a PHEV it should run you about $2,500 to have it done professionally, or less than $1000 to do it yourself. At least that was my experience with my Prius.

Pros: done professionally, do it yourself
Cons: cost $2,500, cost $1000

Had the same problem today... Battery died (ok, a few cold days in Belgium , nights up to -5°C) and assistance for jumpstarting it was necessary, luckily I had autoclub membership. Car is only 30 months old. We drive it multiple times a week for shopping and trips to the seaside. Checked the car in to the Toyota garage and test of the battery was negative, battery was dead. I was very pleased they replaced the battery with a new one under warranty!

Pros: new battery under warranty
Cons: battery died, HUD issue
Vehicle: Toyota Yaris

The battery VW uses in the ID.4 is trash. I had it replaced under warranty in my 2021 after about 2 years when my car died in the garage and I had to get assistance. The tow truck driver got it going with a jump starter. It’s now just out of warranty in year 4 and I get the “Low 12V” warning on cold days.

Cons: battery is trash
Vehicle: Volkswagen

On the day of delivery itself, the car wouldn’t start. The dealership jump-started it and said there was a small battery issue, assuring me that it won’t happen again. But from that day onwards, the vehicle has never been reliable.

Cons: unreliable, starting issue
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 1000 km
