Our household got its first EV earlier this year, mainly for the daily 20-25 km commute form my SO, and it’s been the best car purchase we’ve ever made (only bested by my 3, which made it to 10y w/o problems this year). That “small battery” that once worried us (or more like we intentionally went with the smaller offering)? Barely a drawback - in the summer, a single charge lasts a whole week. This EV has become our go-to for short trips, and while cutting running costs by 2/3 was a big motivator, it’s now just a nice side benefit. I love the torque and started to love the silent driving. especially in a traffic jam.
The Mazda OEM battery only lasts 3 years it seems. I have a 2021 and just changed the battery for similar reasons. It still started with no issues but it was pretty weak and was immediately noticeable after installing the new one. If you can afford it, the extra money for an AGM is worth it.
Still running on its original battery that came with the car.
The only issues my wife and I have had on our 2021 CX9 and 3GT are dead battery issues. And we had dash and reverse cams fitted, which run and film continuously. If our street is busy, they can run the battery flat within 2 days.
San Antonio Leaf driver here, a Leaf is fine in Texas as long as you don't want to do road trips (battery heating gets to be an issue around 250 miles on a 40kWh on the interstate). This sub is overwhelmingly negative on the Leaf, despite it being a good local commuter.
The OEM battery was junk and crapped out the next day after I got home from purchasing it.
replace battery twice..something is draining it..and 3 x not starting...had to use a jump starter to get it to turn over... no codes registering and dash indicators are not helping..once I get it running all warnings disappear....so I drive around with when is it going to happen again....
battery left me stranded
Shop Forman and Nissan tech of 15 years, lately we have seen a ton of frontiers come in for battery discharging. Some will be batteries that do test bad, some have been discharging for no reason even after confirming no parasitic drains, some believe the Telematics control unit is staying on/relaying to Nissan servers causing drains. With the variable charging systems controlled by the ECM/IPDM all of it just seems to be a recipe for electrical disaster. Not a fan of any of it
Bought a 2025 Rogue Platinum less than 2 weeks ago. So far, on day 4 the car was completely dead in my driveway. Needed the battery replaced.
