I used an Audi B6 alternator in my TDi Touareg. I could have repaired it but it was cheap enough to buy. It's an easy job too.
I had my alternator go out on me at 165,000 KM on my audi S3 2015, got a rebuild for half the price of a brand new one and since it's a rebuild the warranty on it is for 2 years. Paid roughly 500 bucks and 100 for labor.
Just got mine done today. I purchased the car used and was in with Audi chat trying to get the window sticker. They let me know the car had open service action and was for the alternator. Dropped it off and got it back the same day.
Ya my alternator failed in 32k kilometers... But Audi Japan replaced it for free so it was okay ...
My alternator died in 32k kilometers.. (Audi Japan took care of it so not that bad). Otherwise the 3 lit twin turbo engine is amazing.
I love driving it on the highways, however small roads in Tokyo and small parkings are a bit challenging sometimes but the 4 wheel steering comes handy.
Well, I'm late to the party, my alternator failed today at 45,000ish miles. Oh, and 2 months after the warranty expired. The silver lining is that my buddy owns a shop that works on Audis.
Die neueren Generatoren sind heute noch Müll (Haltbarkeit). Musste ich erst in meinem A6 erleben (der zu meinem Glück noch auf Garantie ging). Im RS6 gehen die Dinger auch am laufenden Band flöten.
My audi B5 will absolutely refuse to use anything but OEM for the alternator
I just put a new alternator and the batty is dead again but when I jump it the car run fine until the next .morning I am going Crazy trying to figure this.
I owned one for about a year. Loved the car, wish I could have kept it. That being said, it was only in drivable condition for about half the time I owned it. I replaced the alternator, fixed the air suspension, redid some vacuum lines, tried to repair the front diff, and that's where I gave up.
