Denso Alternator

I went with a reman Denso alternator over a new off brand alternator for my Camry and had no issues.

Denso Alternator

Update: I ended up sourcing my own parts and sent them a quote from someone else and they matched it. Will have a Denso alternator installed and Costco battery for about $1k.

Pros: matched lower quote

Denso Alternator

Manual, buy a reman denso or used or new OEM off the eBay or other seller, harder to rebuild those in my experience.

Pros: reman denso, new OEM
Cons: harder to rebuild

Denso Alternator

Similar symptoms when my '05 factory alternator died. Get a jump then measure the voltage at the battery. If it's ~14VDC, the alternator is charging. If it is only ~12VDC replace the alternator.

Pros: charging at 14VDC
Cons: 12VDC replace alternator

Denso Alternator

The Denso branded remanufactured alternator arrived from Rock Auto with a broken plastic socket. I arranged a return and replacement, but the second unit also arrived with the exact same damage. I believe the issue is with Denso's factory packaging, as the alternator is placed socket-down without cushioning. I returned the second replacement for a refund.

Cons: broken plastic socket, damaged upon arrival, poor packaging design
Vehicle: Toyota
Part number: 210-1113

My 2017 Mazda 3 touring felt like it was cursed. I had the direct high pressure fuel pump injector go out like 1.5 years after purchase. About 2k for just that repair. Thought that was the end of it until the following year where there was a persistent evap problem that nobody could find, despite clearing the code it wouldn’t pass smog. One smoke test and several hundred dollars in appointments later they found the smallest leak from one of the hoses, replaced it and passed smog. Then the check engine light saga started, at first we thought it was the battery/alrernator until after replacing both it kept happening. Turns out that was the start of my catalytic going out(76k miles exactly). Idk if it’s Stockholm syndrome but i did trade it in for a new Mazda. Hoping the curse has been lifted.

Pros: passed smog after repair
Cons: fuel pump injector failure, evap problem, check engine light, catalytic converter failure
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 76000 km
