Your Denso alternator lasted 22+ years. It’s way better quality than cheap reman alternators out there.
I called the dealership to see if they have an alternator for a 2002 is300. Crazy enough they still sale them! List price is $344 but you do get a discount from the core of the OEM alternator only. These alternators are reman but it’s from the dealership (actually denso) so it’ll have the quality to go with it. I ended paying $216 due to my employee discount on top of the core exchange.
Mine turned out to be a 60/90A by Valeo, replaced it with an OEM 100A BOSCH refurbisged one for like... 150 bucks, send in the old one and got fiddy bucks back. Was for sure a pretty colid upgrade and You even feel a difference in the Performance.
I'm thinking about getting a Denso remanufactured unit for my Accord. The price isn't much more than the local auto store brand alternators, but those are notorious for being unreliable.
Denso is the only reman brand I will use.
*Hella* is €216 to €380, *Bosch* is €212 to €432. Location: Germany, "*autodoc"* website
I kept driving it and it eventually completely lost voltage. Threw another Denso in there and it’s golden.
Put a Denso rem one from Rock Auto on my 07 and it was great.
Purchase a new or remanufactured Denso or TYC alternator. Most others are a roll of the dice in terms of lasting longer than 12months.
I had a bosch alternator in my Mark 2.. 8valve motor. I noticed the battery was not being charged. so instead of dealing with the voltage regulator or brushes etc, b/c the unit was old I decided to go with a brand new one.
