Air filter K&N or UGREEN

K&N Air filter

Been using a K&N on my car since 1996 or 1997 when my car had around 90k miles. Car currently has 505k miles. I clean it once a year. It flows like a new paper filter even after 20k miles. I still use a paper filter whenever I have to wait for the K&N filter to air dry after cleaning it.

Pros: long lasting, good flow
Mileage: 505000 km

K&N Air filter

Get an K&N or HKS air filter and never buy another filter again. They usually come with a cleaning kit which is used once a year. One of the better investments I’ve made for my car.

Pros: long lasting, good investment

K&N high flow lifetime filter. Higher airflow (you'll hear turbo spool and gain a few HP), and you never need to change it - you can wash it after 50-70,000 mi, or whenever you feel it's dirty enough to clean, but you've never got to buy another filter again...

Pros: Higher airflow, lifetime filter
Mileage: 70000 km

I 3d printed and designed a cold air intake adapter that works like the Neuspeed intake. I put a big ol’ K&N filter on it and made the car much better on levels of acceleration and throttle response.

Pros: better acceleration, throttle response
Cons: p0171 Lean code
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I use K & N filters on all my vehicles, both air and cabin, probably around $100.00 for both. They are a lifetime filter, they need to be cleaned occasionally, about every 30k or so, but you'll never need to buy a filter again! It made a difference in performance of my Pilot and every other vehicle I've owned.

Pros: lifetime filter, improved performance
Cons: needs cleaning
Vehicle: Honda Pilot
Mileage: 30000 km

K&N Air filter

I have the K&N one. There wasn't much noticeable difference for mine, although mines a Non-S. It did save me more money long term as I only have to clean it and prime it vs replace it.

Pros: saves money long term
Cons: little performance difference
Vehicle: MINI

I wind up usually coming back to K&N as I have ran them in about 5 different vehicles over the years including in Corvettes and 8cyl. trucks. I prefer them unoiled after cleaning that way you minimize fouling the maf sensor. As far as performance gains in my 1.4l base Jetta- throttle response is a bit improved but I don’t know if there is a gain in hp (6spd manual as well).

Pros: improved throttle response
Cons: uncertain HP gain

K&N Air filter

SKIP the K&N filter. Not worth it at all. The oil that the K&N filters require can screw up sensors down stream.

Cons: not worth it, screws up sensors

I used a K&N on my ALH, turbo was trashed in 15000 miles due to dirt getting through it.

Cons: turbo trashed, dirt getting through
