Nothing but rain-x. If you are fogging, it wasn't applied properly. Why anyone wouldn't want to use rain-x is beyond me. Could be driving in a monsoon and you can still see perfectly fine.
Owner reviews for washer fluid
If you have cold weather as I do where freezing is a concern, I use VW OEM washer concentrate purchased from Deutsche Auto Parts. I can confirm this is the OEM fluid fill - smells exactly the same, works the same, etc.
Peak washer fluid is safe to use and it is inexpensive. Works just fine.
I've been using the Rain-X washer fluid with de-icer in it for two winters and I haven't had this problem. I love this stuff as the temps here can get down to -30 C at times. This stuff combined with the heated washer nozzles will clear the ice off my windshield lickety split.
I agree -- the blue stuff's claims of working down to -20 F are simply laughable (I think they mean +20 F). I use the Prestone yellow stuff in winter, and I have activated the washers at -25 F with no freezing
No need for new washer fluid sensor I put the orange rain-x in my wife's 2013 JSW and the stupid light came on. I drained the fluid and put in blue fluid for probably 5 months and the light remained on. You can take off the front splash pan (8 torx screws), reach up, yank the sensor, and clean the exposed contacts with a scotch-brite pad.
Rain X and VW -- fail \u00d7 2 I dealt with this issue for my daughter's Mk 6 Golf. IMO it is a lame fail, by two corporations not taking responsibility for their product failure(s).
After buying Rain X 2 in 1 fluid and filling our Tiguan's reservoir up for a trip my wife took, she came back with the warning light on to refill the :banghead:washer tank. It wasn't empty but I topped it up and the light would still not go out.
The rain_x fluid will kill the sensor. Take it out and use brake clean. It should be good after a good cleaning. As long as the contacts on the sensor itself are clean it should be good to go.
In my TT, I had been using orange colored Rain-X washer fluid in my car for nearly 2 years... It finally reached critical mass in my car at the beginning of September. Yellow fill washer fluid light has been on for weeks despite the tank being full.
