The gasket looks fine. Normal procedure would be to buy a new one from BMW. always go OEM with the thermostat, there's a lot of shit knockoffs.

I highly suggest only getting genuine mopar. Myself and others have had issues with the generic part store thermostats that were fixed by using mopar.

Your thermostat is probably stuck open. Replace it with an OEM Motorcraft version, not aftermarket.

Yep, these are a known bitch to bleed out the air, as well as aftermarket thermostat's not working well after replacement. I have seen some go thru a few to get one that works.

The thermostat failed twice. Once at like 80k miles and again at 115k miles. The second time it failed I replaced it with an aftermarket one that had a metal stem instead of plastic. It made it until we traded it in.
