I got 170k miles in 15 years out of the factory unit in my 01 Yukon. It still worked when it got replaced, but the water pump died and I replaced it when I did that.

I replaced the original thermostat in my Volvo (2006) last summer at 186k miles

With the Febi thermostat in, temps are now usually about 180F, though jumping up to 190F at times (versus 190F-200F), and the max it occasionally will go is about 200F (rather than 203F). It's worth noting the Febi is stamped at 79C (although somehow still 180F) versus the 180F/82C that the Tridon/Motorad Thermostat is, and I've also drilled a 2mm bleed hole in the Febi which may have made it run ever so slightly cooler again.

Replacing the Thermostat with a OEM part has solved the issue (with coolant flush) from a dealership.

Got the Wahler on my 2008/2011 and it was identical to the MB part except the area that had the MB logo on the original one was ground out.

Make sure you use the motorcraft thermostat.

I remembered the old thermostat looking like it did, so I waited a few hours to let the engine cool down then swapped the new thermostat for the old one, turned the engine on and no overheating. I've been driving the car as it is for a while now without any problems other than I can't drive long-distance without it running too hot (ex. I drove 4 hours a couple times a year traveling for college, and in the summer the car sometimes would overheat by the time I got to my destination).

After getting mine back together, and filling it back up with coolant, i found the new thermostat from the dealership was stuck wide open and the car wouldn’t get over 110*F.

Burp the cooling system of all air and make sure you add enough coolant to the radiator and overflow, it’s fairly common for the thermostats to fail
