Hello everyone, I just recently had my stock Rancho shocks replaced with Bilstein 5100s front and rear.
Owner reviews for shock absorbers
I've been running stock springs with Koni Special Actives and an 034 rear sway bar on the softer setting. The Koni's have been perfect for my goals, but I do wish for slightly stiffer springs.
The Golf R springs with Bilstein B6 dampers did moderately lower the wagon's body roll and, paradoxically, not really negatively affect ride quality from what I can tell.
My 86 I\u2019m currently on cost me $14,000. After 4 years with it i have about $3,500-$4,000 worth of up upgrades. pads+ rotors
My 2014 Rav 4 Limited has 222,000 miles on it. Needs new shocks to the tune of $2000.00 but that’s to be expected. Absolutely no regrets.
I run Bilstein B4s in my project Rabbit. The car rides and handles great now. I drove it to work not long after getting it back together, and it was a very smooth, quiet ride.
This was my first car, bought 2nd hand during year 2016. Mine was 2.0cc 6 speed year built was 2012. Ive had eyeing this car for months before i took it.
Here's what best for me of this car:
1. Sporty looking, others in her segment only mitsubishi lancer was the top and i'll placed her seconds
2. Got paddleshifter as well
3. Steering felt really light, it was electric power steering
4. Rim stock 17" size, most other in her segment was 16". Again, lancer was 18" and Altis was 17" as well (but Altis still pricey of the same year)
5. 2.0cc was quick eventho this car heavy at her segment. Cruising easily goes to 160kmph and steering still felt sturdy
6. Audio system was okay-ish but change mine to aftermarket
Cons:
1. Fuel consumption is high, but not that too high
2. Spare part was easy to find around online/halfcut but a bit costly. Some people told me it was costly like owning a honda?
3. Shock Absorber prone to weak/faulty after 5 years of use
4. Small spare part mostly use plastic gear. Side mirror use plastic gear. The steering got small plastic gear(forgot whats it call) that will cause guk-guk sound when turning the steering but will not cause safety of the car
8 years as of 2nd owner I had replace:
1. Aircond compressor and radiator due to compressor failure
2. Rear wheel speed sensor
3. Front absorber two time changed (used OEM, not original)
4. Replaced stabilizer links due to bad rubber
5. Replaced belting and belt tensioner due to bad bearing
Sold it last year due to car upgrade. Still miss her tho..
2011 SR5 4wd just under 110k. Zero issues just regular maintenance. I am due for some new shocks though.
I have 5100s with 2.25" of lift and I've lost 2" of downtravel
I have balistein shock absorbs I dont adivice to use it because its hard
