If you are trying to figure out if you have a ZF or Saginaw it is easy. Look on the back side of the pump near the bottom. If you see a ZF inside a partial circle it is a ZF pump.
Owner reviews for power steering pump
In the end, after a full refund, I bought a reman trw pump from fcp for $100 less than a reman pump from a big box store and all is well.
That isn't that far from $25k. In addition to the purchase cost, we have had power steering pump professionally replaced. The car pretty much drives like new.
Ended up picking up the MR2 mk3 all in one unit and will be plumbing it up to the steering rack, using the VSS signal to control the pump. I am pretty excited about this as some weight will be eliminated and shifted back as well.
I didn’t mind the PS pump, if it had a serious leak the auction report would have noticed it and I can fix mechanical things.
Watch for leaking power steering pumps (lots of them seem to leak), and make sure the sway bar bushings are in good condition.
I’ve had good luck with BBB and Edelmann personally. Cardone was trash.
Do not and I repeat do not get the CARDONE they are trash!!!!
I know it's pricey, but I would get a genuine Honda PS pump and fluid. in my experience with Honda, the aftermarket pumps don't last and they always whine. if you absolutely have to go through rockauto, I would get the edelmann pump.
We have had spotty success with everything but the OEM units, which are always perfect. Cardone is a hard no for pretty much anything unless it’s a last resort.
