I can recommend MANN filters. I've cut one open recently. They have a full metal construction, even the inner tube isn't plastic.
Owner reviews for oil filter
I recommend you use your favorite VW 502 00 spec motor oil with an OEM Mann oil filter and change them at 5K miles. My 2008 Rabbit with the 2.5 CBTA engine has 153K miles so far and I can barely hear it idle.
Mobil 1 0w/20 and Wix filters from rockauto. Apparently the Wix’s are the only filters with the correct drainback valve. So I’ve heard. They’re cheap and work well so I use them.
I HIGHLY recommend 5k oil changes with a quality synthetic oil and factory oil filters. There may be others that are OK, but you are sure to have a good filter if you use a factory filter. Stay away from brands like Fram and anything from the quicky oil change places. The filters they use a not good.
2018 Honda Fit EX. Using 0W16 Amsoil, oil filter my car likes is WIX 57356XP Oil Filter. Transmission fluid I use Amsoil CVT. All working fine. Been using it for like almost 2 years.
Wix oil filter and crush washers from Amazon. Though I have gotten crush washers from the dealer. Napa Gold oil filters are Wix, which are arguably among the best oil filters, so I've gotten those oil filters too.
Oil from Walmart. Any 0W-20 synthetic is fine, even the Supertech, though I've used Mobil One. I need a long funnel in my 2nd generation Fit because of where the oil cap is.
Costco brand full synthetic w Toyota filter. Change every 5k or 6 months
My ‘11 CR-V AWD is sitting pretty at 285,000 miles and I’ve been using a combination of Valvoline MaxLife Engine Oil High Mileage Full Synthetic and K&N High Performance Oil Filter for the last 100k miles.
I've seen more aftermarket (fram, stp, etc) filters that are crushed down towards the center of the filter . They do not seem to flow as well over time.
Never use Fram Oil Filter.
