AC DELCO Glow plug

Only use AC Delco glow plugs and not an aftermarket brand. The resistance sometimes is different between brands and can cause the light to keep coming on even though the glow plug is good.

Pros: better resistance
Cons: aftermarket brands bad

WD-40 Glow plug

I changed the glow plugs on my 2001 A6 and I'm fairly sure they have never been done.

I was in a position where I didn't need to use it for weeks so I just took my time with it - soak them up with WD40 for days at a time and slowly loosen them up. Didn't break any but I had to have patience to leave them overnight to soak when they were feeling tight.

Pros: took time, didn't break
Cons: feeling tight
Vehicle: Audi A6

Replaced glow plugs with matched Bosch plugs and replaced glow plug bus bar with 10 gauge wire, checked all plug currents with a DC current clamp to ensure they were all drawing the specified amperage.

Pros: specified amperage
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Webasto Glow plug

My Auxilliary Heater stopped working a few weeks ago. The car is under warranty so I took it to the main dealer. They did a diagnosis and it came up with a "Glowplug with flame monitoring error". They changed the glowplug but they said it still doesn't work

Cons: still doesn't work

The Motorcraft ones are so cheap, I can't imagine why anyone would consider buying an Autolite glow plug.

Pros: Motorcraft ones are cheap
Cons: do not buy Autolite
