Did my wife's 2020 Nissan Murano, drained 4.5 to 5 quarts of fluid out, change both filters, refilled with exactly how much I took out, not hard to do, just a little messy, I used Castrol transmax Universal ATF/CVT fluid, 3,000 mi in as of now and no problems whatsoever, just got back from a 1200 mile trip to Panama City Beach, Florida from Arkansas and it ran like a champ.
Owner reviews for CVT fluid
The reality is that they need more thoughtful and consistent maintenance than other cars, and the maintenance tends to cost a bit more.
As long as you pony up the effort and money to maintain them, they are very reliable.
And I'll repeat, again, as I have so many times: Change your CVT fluid every 30k miles.
Also consider doing cvt fluid changes every 30k or so despite dealers considering it a “lifetime sealed unit”. So far mine hasn’t had the slightest hiccup over its 50k miles. They’re relatively simple and easy to service if you’re even slightly hands on as well. I certainly expect to get more than 10 years out of mine
Amsoil is the best. I used it in a 19 crosstrek that i got 250k and it was still fine when i traded it in.
I'm going to use ENEOS Eco CVT fluid on my first fluid change, since it's the same color as the OEM fluid and I'm still under warranty.
I used Amsoil cvt fluid
I just recently paid $227 for my CVT fluid drain/refill on my Impreza at the dealership.
CVT price is pretty good. I paid 375 a few weeks ago for mine to get done.
The Idemitsu fluid is not your problem. The CVT failure is just luck if the draw. Idemitsu is the OE supplier to Nissan for CVT fluid
Followed service manual and used OEM fluid. After I changed the fluid all of the sudden it’s slipping.
