(I could be wrong, but) the temperature gauge you're likely seeing is the coolant temp and this only takes under ~5 minutes to warm up. Oil takes about 10-15 minutes of driving in the summer to get to a temp where you should start pushing the engine.

13’ Q5 3.0T here. LONG driveway (1.3 miles of dirt) is my warm up. After coolant temp is up to normal I just drive it normal. Never get crazy with a COLD motor/trans, but “warmup” is a way less important thing than it was ages ago.
I have two gallons of this I've used in my 2009 B6 Passat that is leaking coolant. I don't drive it much, just once in a while. I just don't have the funds to fix the leak, which is likely the water pump. This coolant works just fine for me!
Peak Asian green coolant works fine. I used it last week and my Mazda 6 is working fine
for choosing coolant, if just topping off, i use whatever's already inside. so if it's factory coolant, use Toyota OEM coolant.
Don't buy BMW coolant it's overpriced just like everything else they sell. Blue coolant is preferred but the premixed green stuff isn't going to cause catastrophic meltdowns. My 97 328i has the green stuff and I've got no issues after 196k miles.
I use mannol G11, but coolant from the dealer isn't actually all that pricey.

you can use peak, most likely it will be fine, it may just cause your radiator and heater core to clog. i used to run it with absolutely no problems. i now just prefer g11/g12
the GM dex-cool is fucking garbage. You do not want that shit in your car. Take that jug and have it recycled.
