Many generators come from the factory with Torch spark plugs which are recognized as inferior so many folks recommend immediately changing out the Torch for the appropriate NGK plug to remedy hard starting.

I’ve been running the stock torch plug in my Westinghouse but I’ll be getting a new NGK after so many recommendations to change it. Usually takes a couple tries to start even though it doesn’t seem fouled and the gap is correct. Guess those torch plugs are just kinda crappy.
BP7ES here. Starts right up every time. Torch plugs suck.
