PENNZOIL Engine oil

I combine that with Pennzoil Platinum as there’s almost always a rebate for it. I paid $12 a jug after rebates for my last batch.

Pros: rebate available

Some 5w-40 can be quite thick in cold. The 0w-30 here is German Syntec, and trust me it's the same visc curve as 0w-40. As you see, 5w-40 is 3-4x thicker in cold than jug 5w-30

Pros: better specs in many cases
Cons: can be quite thick

I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20, and follow a 5K miles/6 months time change schedule. (It’s twice as often as is recommended but that’s just my personal preference on how often I change it, not indicative of oil quality or use parameters.)

Pros: 5K miles change schedule
Mileage: 8046 km

Pennzoil ultra platinum. It is what they put in it from factory and it is one of the best oils around next to amsoil for a lot less money.

Pros: best oils around
Cons: less money

I know this is old, so you’ve probably already made your decision, but I use Pennzoil Platinum. It’s a great oil as well and tends to be slightly cheaper than the Amsoil.

Pros: great oil, cheaper price

PENNZOIL Engine oil

That's what I run. It supposedly runs lighter than the specified 40. It's LL-01 approved. I change it every 8000km/5000miles.

Pros: runs lighter than 40
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 8000 km

PENNZOIL Engine oil

The best performing oil for cold starts is probably Pennzoil platinum full synthetic if your particular prius uses 0w-20. It is made from syn gas, and is particularly thin.

For comparison, i got 6,000 miles out of Pennzoil platinum vs royal purple, with which i would get 5,000 miles prior to the oil changing color and about a 1 to 2 percent dip in fuel economy. Regardless of the wear additives, Pennzoil platinum lasts longer, again likely due to the cold start performance and the way the hybrid drivetrain works.

Pros: longer oil change intervals
Cons: royal purple poor performer
Mileage: 6000 km
