I had my 2012 vw gli at 50k miles to 220k miles. Beat the crap out of it. Change oil often also check it. Intake manifolds suck 3rd time with me blasting it. Spark plugs and coils packs suck get better ones.

Pros: best car I have drove
Cons: Intake manifolds suck

OEM Volkswagen Intake manifold

Had a similar experience with a VW dealership when I had to replace my Intake Manifold a few weeks ago. They quoted me 1800 dollars and said it would take 6 hours. A specialist near me quoted half on time, money, and had the car back to me in two days.

Pros: specialist quoted half
Cons: dealership quoted high
Vehicle: Volkswagen

The leak at the actuator pivot is a failure of the manifold, and the new ones are of a different design. The manifolds aren't very expensive, and it isn't a very bad job to replace.

Pros: new design available
Cons: common failure item
Vehicle: Volkswagen Tiguan

When I bought a new intake manifold for my 13 Eos my indy shop charged a little over $600.00 to do the walnut blasting (with before and after pics) and installing the new intake manifold. My VW dealer wanted over $900 for the carbon service. It's unbelievable the difference in idling and actual power the car has now. The car had around 72,000 miles at the time of service.

Pros: improved idling, increased power
Vehicle: Volkswagen Eos
Mileage: 115873 km

Roughly ~98k on 12' GLI, MT At about ~90k the intake runner control broke, causing some misfire codes and funky idle. Intake manifold was replaced by dealer under TSB and they did a walnut blast while they were in there.

Pros: walnut blast
Cons: misfire codes, funky idle
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 98000 km
