go to any auto shop and ask for a fuel filter for a seventies Volkswagen beetle.

Mine ended up being the hall sensor going out. Put a rebuilt dizzy in and it's been solid.
The alternator was dead (as expected), and was replaced with a used one that I sourced locally from junkyard.
I would change my own cabin filter...seems EZ breezy....
I have a 2013 GTI with 105k on my original water pump, no issues
2 water pumps (both under warranty) 3rd one it's on..so far so good. Those repairs cost me nothing.
VW of macon charged me over 600 for just the front pads and rotors - that's with a friend's and family deal because my dad used to work there. Apparently the OEM parts are super steep.
even a simple job like changing the alternator is difficult due to where they place it. There's not a ton of space to work on the car in the engine bay.
The Atlas oem pads sound like dying squealing pigs well after break in, only fix is to install aftermarket pads
Had a 2016 GTI and went through two water pumps before the car hit 90k miles. Both covered under the extended warranty VW has on them. They’re a known failure part at this point.
