MSD Ignition coil

I put an msd blaster coil #8220 in my fox and it works fine... No ping and I also get better fuel mileage due to a hotter spark for a clean burn.

Pros: better fuel mileage, no ping
Part number: 8220

MSD Ignition coil

I went with the MDS Blaster High Vibration coil http://www.msdignition.com/coil_blaster_3_8222.htm in my rally car because of the inherent suceptibility of an oil filled coil to extreme shock. The MSD is epoxy potted and fits in the stock location. It does use the American style connector for the high voltage wire but I also use Magnecor wires which will accomodate both. In the process I also improved the supply (+) wiring and ignition control (-) wires. In the end my oscilliscope showed me a much cleaner and longer pulse was being produced which probably helps combustion under otherwise marginal conditions.

Pros: cleaner, longer pulse
Cons: American style connector

I \"upgraded\" my ignition coil to an MSD SS Coil after my OEM Bosch began to fail at 110,000 miles. It's a rare opportunity to upgrade a part on a car & actually spend less money on the part. & for whoever that made 900 HP on the stock coil, I'd bet money the MSD would make more lol I'm not trying to be an @ss, I just see this so much on the Vortex. Someone inquires about something, EX) Headers, UD Pulleys, Light Weight Flywheels, etc, & you have atleast 10 @ssholes that say they don't work. I'm done ranting

Pros: cheaper than factory, easier starting
Cons: OEM Bosch failed
Mileage: 110000 km

MSD Ignition coil

A factory coil is not wound well enough to keep a continued full spark at higher rpms. Upgrading my coil to the MSD blaster SS made a huge difference above 4,000rpms. Throttle response is much crisper and the rpm's are a lot smoother because the upgraded coils can recharge and send spark out faster than the factory unit. Granted I spin my car to about 6,000rpms every time I drive it so I needed the extra spark. If you're just looking for extra power your're not going to find it in a coil. You will find better fuel economy (I gained 20 miles a tank) a cleaner burn 27ppm on my emissions test total and smoother revs at high rpms.

Pros: smoother revs, better fuel economy
Cons: no extra power
