Motorcraft Oil filter
dedzip
 • Leaks:
Rating 4.0

Motorcraft filters use a silicone anti drain back valve ADBV. Cheapos use rubber ones that get hard in the cold and don’t seal. If they don’t seal oil leaks out of the hydraulic chain tensioners and they aren’t pressurized when the engine starts, so the chain isn’t tensioned and it rattles for a second against the plastic guide before oil pressure comes back.

Pros: silicone anti drain back
Cons: rubber ones don't seal

Motorcraft Oil filter

I use Mobile 1, 5/30 in my F150 EcoBoost...287K on it. Change every 6K . And I am an absolute believer in OEM filters. My new Bronco gets the same treatment. Don't skimp on the filter.

Pros: believer in OEM filters
Cons: Don't skimp on filter

Mileage: 287000 km

Motorcraft Antifreeze

 • Temperature stability:
Rating 5.0

I just did my resivoir as well a few weeks ago; no clips broke, still have the original lines on. Used the new Motorcraft Yellow as well, like you've got. Car runs better than ever, and the heat/AC is extra responsive/changes when I touch the dial (instead of waiting five minutes to finally change).

Pros: car runs better, responsive AC

Motorcraft Oil filter

While Ford said you can use 5-20 I know where I live it gets warmer than 86 degrees so in my F150 I run 5-30 or 10/40.

I’ve had no issues with synth and have 255k on it.

Also…I would recommend a Motorcraft filter.

Pros: no issues with synth
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 255000 km

Motorcraft Alternator

Rating 5.0

Fords can be really picky about which alternator you use! Even if it’s a remanufactured Motorcraft, it’s worth it. Had a friend with an 11 Edge 3.5 that we put a aftermarket alternator in and it complained errors etc… for months till we finally swapped it out and it worked fine with the Ford part!

Pros: worked fine, worth it
Vehicle: Ford Edge

Motorcraft Alternator

I also noticed that the alternator looks like a remanufactured unit. I’ve been reading about how these PCMs really don’t like reman units that are not built perfectly to spec. It’s best practice to replace these with only motorcraft units.

Cons: PCMs don’t like reman units
Vehicle: Ford Escape

Motorcraft Cabin filter

2014 XLT, I do have remorse because it doesn't have a cabin filter so my ac is clogged, heater doesn't work and the after market parts don't fit, so I have to buy the Motorcraft parts at 6x the price....

Cons: aftermarket parts don't fit
Vehicle: Ford
