I put some snow tires on the back, a couple sandbags in the trunk and it got me back and forth to college in '82-'84...The only real problem it had was because of the rust issues, the starter solenoid would get wet repeatedly and eventually die and need replacement...

When I replaced my starter last time, I wrenched down the solenoid connections too hard and cracked it.
The fender apron starter solenoid on Fords is a weak design. Very common for them to fail and it's extremely distressing when the engine starts with the starter still engage to the flywheel.
Stuck starter solenoid. It's super easy to change on Fords should be located on the passenger side fender support.
Went for the second look at the Falcon today, I bought it for $600. The owner got the starter solenoid so we were able to start it and it ran up to temp without pissing coolant. It runs rough, but that was because it needed plugs and the rest of the tune-up items.
