DORMAN Thermostat
cyberintel13
  • Overheating:
Rating 5.0

I highly recommend getting the dorman all aluminum upgraded one. It's like $22 and won't leak / fail like the factory plastic ones.

Pros: won't leak/fail
Vehicle: Dodge Charger

DORMAN Thermostat
Bonafideago
  • Overheating:
Rating 5.0

I have two vehicles with the 3.6 V6. Both of them had the thermostat fail. When I changed the one on me Journey, Dorman had the aftermarket aluminum version available, so that is what's running on that car. It has zero issues. When the OEM version on my van inevitably fails again, I'm going with the aluminum one to replace it.

Pros: zero issues, aluminum version
Vehicle: Dodge Journey

DORMAN Tie rods
2daMoonVinny
  • Steering play:
  • Knocking:
Rating 5.0

I started getting a clicking sound so another user on Facebook posted his tie rods was the culprit so sure enough mine were bad too. Ordered these Dorman ones from RockAuto for about $50 shipped for both sides. This is my driver side which was far worse than my passenger. Car feels so much better and clicking is gone!

Pros: improved ride comfort, clicking sound eliminated

DORMAN Bushings
G60 Carat
  • Loose feel:
Rating 4.0

manual trans cars can have a bushing crumble apart in the shifter. Supposedly you can't buy just the bushing at a parts store, they want to sell you the whole shift cable set. There is plastic and even delrin and sometimes aluminum upgrades on ebay. I used a steel spacer/collar, a washer and a bolt (works better then ever, no chance of failure)

Pros: works better then ever
Cons: bushing crumble apart

DORMAN Control arm
DogMechanic
  • Clunks:
  • Stability:
Rating 1.0

I got 2 Dorman control arms from Factory Motor Parts (FMP) in MOOG boxes. I found out when the customer brought his Dakota back for noise. Found the bolts holding the ball joints snapped and one side was held in by on out of three. The other side all the bolts were loose. Had them send a second set. I tried to torque the bolts this time before install. They would not torque and began to strip. FMP tried to tell me it was accidental. TWICE? Nearly killed my customer.

Cons: bolts snapped, bolts loose
Vehicle: Dodge Dakota
