Denso Alternator

Rating 5.0

Mechanic put in a different kind, and I spent all last summer with dead batteries. After a lot of troubleshooting, and thinking there was a parasitic draw, we found the alternator was bad. Replaced w/ Denso, and no problems since.

Pros: no problems since
Cons: dead batteries

Denso AC compressor

Rating 5.0

Compressor failed. I went to the junkyard and pulled a Denso off an abandoned boxy boy. Geez it took all day to get the compressor in. I'd give it a 8/10 on the difficulty scale. Mainly for how tedious the work was. I did it without a jack which added to my obstacles.

Took about 8 hours total, 5 YT videos and 3 trips to the hardware store but my cars AC is back. Worst time for it to go out too in Texas Summer.

I'm happy I saved probably 1000 by doing it myself.

Pros: AC is back, saved money
Cons: difficult installation, tedious work
Vehicle: Honda Element

Denso Starter motor

ESPECIALLY with a Honda, go Denso. I had an experience with a failed starter (would only intermittently grab the flywheel) on an '07 Accord where the starter is behind the exhaust manifold. Had a shop replace (they used a Carquest reman) and the issue returned so they replaced again. Off the engine they both tested fine and in spec. Shop refunded the repair as long as I returned the 'faulty' starter so I decided to try but use a reman OEM Denso and it fully worked and has been working flawlessly for years now. It costs a bit more, but worth it - On a Honda at least.

Pros: fully worked, working flawlessly
Cons: failed starter, intermittent grab

Denso Alternator

For anyone looking for a drop in upgrade, I used a 105 amp for a Suzuki. Made by Denso. No harness needed, plugs right in. Going strong for a couple years now in my 3rd gen.

Pros: plugs right in, going strong
Part number: DNP-210-0461

Denso AC compressor

I’ve always used Denso and have never had any issues, but I’ve noticed that depending on car they’re sometimes noisy. Like they make a hum sound that’s distinguishable from the usual hum of an AC system.

Pros: no issues, reliable
Cons: sometimes noisy, hum sound
Vehicle: Honda S2000

When my alternator went out I got an aftermarket that failed within the week. Afterwards I was told that the element alternator is in a spot that gets more heat than a normal car so it needs a higher temp solder. I got the denso oem after and it’s still good after 5 years

Pros: Denso OEM good after 5 years
Cons: aftermarket failed within week

Im going to say OEM. I have a 2004 acura tsx, which is essentially an accord. I replaced my alternator with a denso remanufactured unit from rockauto. It worked, but the battery light stayed on. I bit the bullet and bought an OEM a year later just to turn the damn light off.

Pros: worked initially
Cons: battery light stayed on
Vehicle: Acura TSX
