Im having the same issue with my 08 jetta 2.5, replaced the alternator and voltage regulator because the car battery wasnt charging anymore. Anyways replaced the alternator and then I had a high voltage issue with the regulator
So, OK, ended up getting a Bosch Reman from IMC, installed it to find out it was only producing 10Volts @ idle. Took it back out, and installed an Ultima which put out 14Volts @ idle.
Lucky for us, the Alternator was in fact faulty (it was a Bosch btw) and that the previous owner replaced it a few months prior, meaning it was still under warranty.
Bosch is a great aftermarket option.
Yes, if it was from an OEM supplier to Lexus or the auto industry, such as Denso (1/3 owned by Toyota/Lexus), AC Delco, or Bosch, but I would not buy a mystery brand, especially not a rebuilt, because I don't know how much they get rebuilt or tested.
Changed it for another OEM Bosch new (not reman). Subsequent test showed it was now good.
I got BOSCH AL113M from Adv auto (with a code cost me about 80), then went to tractor supply and got several large washers. I took the pulley off my old alt and put it on the new long-nose alt, stacking washers until it lined up.
So my just-installed today reman Bosch SR33X turns the light off with a very slight blip to 1200rpm.
I used to have an alternator that required me to rev to 5k before the light would go out! My current one needs a slight blip to 1200 to make the light go out. I just ordered a new Bosch rebuilt alternator to replace.
We have been having a lot of trouble with Bosch reman alternators and starters in the last couple years. Pretty sad, used to be great stuff. Now all the boxes say made in china and everything is crap.
