Vredestein Tires

I've got the Vredestein Hypertracs on my S60 T5, put about 1500 miles on them, so far so good. They came well reviewed to me from other enthusiasts. Car still breaks traction, but that's the nature of the car.

Pros: good all season tire
Cons: car breaks traction
Vehicle: Volvo S60
Mileage: 1500 km

Pirelli Tires

  • Grip:
  • Noise:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 4.0

Currently running Pirelli P7 AS3 Plus on my 19' S60 on XC90 18" Takeoffs, ride pretty quiet, good wettraction. Haven't had the chance to try them in snow yet since I got them in the spring, but they have about 20k on em now and still have plenty of tread left.

Pros: ride pretty quiet, good wettraction
Vehicle: Volvo S60
Mileage: 20000 km

OEM Volvo Hydraulic lifters
forensicsss
  • Ticking noise:
Rating 3.0

Despite what people say, the manufacturer doesn't always know best. On my car, a few years into ownership people discovered the hydraulic lifters were failing when Volvo recommended 0W-30.

Cons: hydraulic lifters failing

Hankook Tires
Cradle2theDave
  • Grip:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 3.5

Ran them on my S60 back in the day, pretty much exactly what I expected for the price. Only complaint was tread wear, but for a commuting daily they will give you plenty of life.

Pros: expected for the price
Cons: tread wear

AC DELCO Spark plug
DasTurboShep
  • Acceleration:
Rating 1.0

When I got my S60 (2006, T5) the previous owner had some copper AC Delco plugs made to fit an 850 non turbo in it and I wondered why there was very slow engine response.

Cons: slow engine response

OEM Volvo Timing belt
hacobo280
  • Starting:
Rating 1.0

I have a 2007 S60 and the timing belt was replaced by a non-specialist soon after I purchased it. The tension on the belt has to be just right, and the non-specialist mechanic way over-torqued it. Had I not noticed the issue and taken the car to a specialist, it could have pulled the engine apart.

Cons: over-torqued, engine damage risk
Vehicle: Volvo S60
