OEM Nissan Alternator

My car started experiencing the same issue as yours. Randomly lose power, no acceleration, give jump start, two days later, the same issue. Had to have it towed to Nissan. Yes, long story short, it does need a genuine OEM Alternator and OEM Battery! For some reason, the 3rd party parts are not as effective in the product. Once placed in my Nissan, it was commented there have been no issues.

Pros: genuine OEM parts needed
Cons: third party parts ineffective
Mileage: 50000 km

GABRIEL Strut assembly

Personally I’ve had good luck with Gabriel ReadyMount (Nissan Maxima). I got about 90k miles out of one set and just replaced with the same brand.

Pros: good luck, high mileage

OEM Nissan Starter motor

I had one on my last two MTs (07 TL-S and 03 Maxima) and they both had am \"arming\" procedure to do before exiting the car, like spjoneSI said. Basically what it came down to was the car stayed running when you took the key out of the ignition, and turned the car off & armed the starter when you exited the car & shut the door. Doing that told the starter \"the car is stationary, brake engaged, & running - so it must be in neutral & safe to start.\"

Pros: worked well
Cons: door-sensitive-arming complicated
Vehicle: Nissan Maxima

OEM Nissan Power steering pump
Compgeke
  • Noise:
  • Steering effort:
  • Leaks:
Rating 4.0

It's a damn tough pump. It's been about a year of just topping off now and then with a whiny pump and the leaky hose. Has yet to fail despite not bleeding the system and about half the time being run without fluid.

Pros: damn tough, hasn't failed despite abuse
Cons: whiny
Vehicle: Nissan Maxima

Tokico Shock absorbers
Prostho
  • Bottoming:
Rating 4.0

With R compound tires, I was keeping up with well driven S2000s on Starspec and RS3s. My buddy drives the S2000 and we are exactly even in the straightway of the track. This is on stock springs and a set of Tokico illumina shocks.

Pros: keeping up well driven
Vehicle: Nissan Maxima
Mileage: 25000 km

OEM Nissan Headlights

David, the Cefiro and Maxima shared the A32 platform (later the A33 in 2000) and was even available in wagon form. Cefiro headlights are a popular mod on 4th gen Maximas here.

Kumho Tires

I used to run Kumho tires on my 99 SE-L maxima when I was in my early 20's they were decently performing tire. I pretty much only ran their UHP summer tires though. As a brand they've been around for a long long time, they are probably upper mid-range tires depending on the type you have.

Pros: decently performing tire

AC DELCO Alternator

I got an ACDelco reman alternator from RockAuto, but it has a grinding feeling and bearing noise when I spin the shaft by hand. I'm not putting that "reman" alternator in the car only to have it fail a few weeks from now.

Cons: grinding feeling, bearing noise
Mileage: 150000 km

KYB Shock absorbers

I put those on my 2007 Maxima and didn't have a good result. The rear KYB shock absorbers were way too stiff and they made the car bouncy at highway speeds.

Cons: too stiff, bouncy at highway speeds
