OEM Mercedes Oil filter

My Mercedes turbodiesel recommended based on my driving (almost all long highway) 25k miles per oil change and something like 7,500 miles on oil filters. I couldn’t do this long but over 250k miles, did eventually allow myself to go 12k miles.

Mileage: 250000 km

ODYSSEY Battery

Rating 5.0

Odyssey batteries have served me well. AGM. My Benz has the battery under the passenger seat so I it’s irritating to change. My last Odyssey lasted 9 years and didn’t fail: I just decided to change it as a matter of maintenance.

Pros: long lasting, reliable

Rating 4.0

Offside was replaced about 4 months ago by an emergency tyre fitter with an Arden Sport RX6 and it's genuinely a better tyre than the Conti Sport Contact's the car came with (considerably better cold weather grip and seems to hold well under load).

Pros: better cold weather grip

OEM Mercedes Windshield
Argh Golf

  • Wiper performance:
Rating 3.0

If you have to replace the windshield do not get an aftermarket one. Make sure it\u2019s OEM. I had a Mercedes and a SAAB which both had to have their windshields replaced. The Mercedes I bought new and the rain sensors worked great from day one. I had to replace the windshield after an accident. The insurance company had an aftermarket windshield installed and the rain sensors never worked right after that.

Pros: OEM windshield recommended
Cons: aftermarket sensors not working

OEM Mercedes Head gasket

Rating 1.0

For about 35 minutes, I owned an 87 Mercedes diesel wagon. I got it in a trade deal with an MPV for my Dodge Stealth, and really just didn't care for it. So while I was driving it home, I called a friend who was interested in cars like these. He said, "Bring it over." So I drove to his place, and he gave me decent money for it. A month later, the headgasket blew, then the injection pump failed.

Pros: got decent money
Cons: headgasket blew, pump failed
Vehicle: Mercedes
