I've been exceptionally happy with the Cooper RS3 tires on my Focus - I'd take a serious look for your car. They are sticky, quiet and good in the rain.
Had a set of these installed on my Focus. So far I'm impressed by their dry handling capabilities. And they're quiet too.
For example, Maxxis MA-Z1's cost me $135ea and last about 30,000kms, but the Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001's on my car at the moment can get about 60-80,000kms, but cost $185ea.
My new favorite cheap-o all-seasons are the Sumitomo HTR high-performance all-seasons. Quiet, good dry grip, comfortable, cheap.
