When I made the switch I also bought a can of Liqui Moly Engine flush to run through the engine before changing the oil. This removes any built up sludge and deposits. My engine runs noticeably smoother and gas mileage is a little better.

Liquimoly leichtwaffe or whatever its name is 5w40 is kind of the only oil I think of using in any somewhat old euro car. It’s good shit.
Liqui Moly from FCP Euro, return the old oil and filter every time you need an oil change. Fantastic quality oil for minimal cost.
Replaced with original.
24 years is good for me.
The stock piece lasts well over a decade in my experience. That's more than enough for me for a part that fits and functions perfectly.
Oem Bmw 5w30 longlife 04. I used this for 8 years in my high mileage n47 and sold that thing mint. Go with oem and don't waste a second more thinking about it. Enjoy the car. Just do the changes on time or early and it will be good.
I’ve never bothered spending money on fancy disks, they are literally just metal disks being ground down. Other than the alloy strength you aren't paying for anything other than brand name. I run the cheapest "branded" disks I can find on eBay and have had no issues. A pair of febi disks is like £50
I'd much prefer to pay the extra to get decent materials and parts.
I’m getting issues with rotors warping on my 2002 E53. I bought Zimmermann smooth rotors couple of years ago and they’ve been lathed couple of times now. At one point I had to replace Zimmermann pads too as they were excreting glue or something that caused “falling stars” on the rotor faces.
The Wahler one's are rubbish. Did the same after my fucking brand new Wahner DID NOT work....
