I've had my 2019 S since May, 2018. The original wipers wiped OK, but began to get noisy a few months ago. We just went into the rain season here, so I replaced them with new from a VW dealer in San Antonio TX. The new ones are dead silent and wipe cleanly and completely.

Pros: dead silent, wipe cleanly
Cons: original wipers noisy

I had silicone PIAA wiper blades on my 2015 Mazda 3 which I drove over 115k miles, and the blades were still working/looking as new over a 3 year span in PA. They also naturally cause water to bead off the windshield.

Pros: working as new, water beading, long lifespan
Mileage: 185074 km

My OEM wipers lasted a year. I decided to go with PIAA silicone blades. They are working fantastic. I'm hoping they will last longer than a year.

Pros: working fantastic

Another thing you might notice on your Tig is that every once in a while when you switch your car off or turn it on, the wipers will "twitch", basically just move a couple of millimeters up or down. It's to prevent them from sticking to the glass and baking on, in areas where you might not use your wipers for weeks of months at a time. It supposedly keeps the blade's edge in healthier shape.

Pros: keeps blade's edge healthy

The best experience I have made with the original wipers. I know, they are dearer than those in the aftermarket, but at least they clean 2 years without squeaking, skipping and so on. Those from the Mk4s can also be used on the Mk3.

Pros: clean 2 years without squeaking, no skipping
Cons: dearer than aftermarket
Vehicle: Volkswagen

On my way to work I had the wipers on at low speed. When I came to a stop light the engine stopped and the wipers switched to intermittent automatically. When the engine re-started, they went back to low speed.

Pros: wipers switch to intermittent

I have only purchased the OEM blades for my '15 and have no complaints. They are streak free, work well at speed and last a long time (I change mine about every 6-8 months)

Pros: streak free, work well

FWIW, I found the stock wipers I had pulled off the car before really using them to go with the PIAAs. Not sure why, but the stock work so much better than the PIAAs, which were really starting to pi%s me off. Anyway, thanks to the contributors to this thread...it didn't even dawn on me to put the OEMs back on...though it was a design flaw with the wiper arm not having enough tension on it or something.

Pros: stock wipers work better
Cons: PIAAs were disappointing

Silicon blades are the way to go. They last way longer and have a cleaner wipe which is why you don't see them at most retail locations.

Pros: last way longer, cleaner wipe
