Windshield Tesla or OEM Subaru

Tesla Windshield

Had my model 3 done through Tesla. Initial appointment was 50 days out. They contacted me a few days later and said the can do it. OEM glass installed. Excellent job. No issues.

Pros: Excellent job, no issues

I purchased my 2023 in October of 2022; I have two small chips in my windshield, both occurred within 3 months of ownership. First one was after a month going up a hill into a rocky mountain with very high winds at the time. Second time was maybe 3 months into ownership and it was from on of those large semi trucks carrying gravel lol I’ve been a lot more cautious since but I’ve put off replacing the whole windshield for 2 years.. chips have not gotten any larger but I’m currently in Southern California where the temperature doesn’t fluctuate too drastically so hopefully I can put off a little longer

Pros: chips not growing
Cons: chips easily
Vehicle: Subaru

I already have a crack in my windshield. Local Safelite quoted me $1200 (500 replace glass + 700 recalibration).

Cons: prone to cracking, expensive replacement

I have all my documents, including photos of the crack going straight across my windshield. Geico only covered $1,000 of my repair leaving me on the hook for the rest. Insurance needs to catch up with how expensive these repairs are!

Cons: prone to cracking, expensive repair

OEM Subaru Windshield

Had a subaru forester 2020 and had to replace the windshields twice and I believe at that time I paid almost 2500 in total before I upgraded to better insurance. I was always wondering how It kept breaking on me!

Cons: poor durability, frequent breakage, expensive replacement
Vehicle: Subaru Forester
